Hi, I know this is a common question usually asked by paranoid overachievers, but it's something that has been really troubling me for the past few months. I'm a junior in high school and throughout my high school "career" I've had straight A's. My mother has always instilled in me that if I want to get into an Ivy League I cannot mess up my grades. Even if I get one B, it's too much of a drop, and Ivy Leagues are a lot less likely to accept me. Especially in my junior year. But this year I loaded myself with 3 AP classes and because I've been very busy, they're the classes I'm struggling in the most. Currently, I have B's in all 3 AP classes, but I'm fairly sure I can raise two of them by the end of the semester. However, I have an 80% in my AP Calculus class and I find it had to believe that I can bring it up in 5 weeks, especially considering my teacher is not very lenient and does not provide extra credit, etc. Currently my weighted academic GPA is a 4.2. My total weighted GPA is a 4.11. And my 10-12 grade weighted GPA is a 4.4. (I don't really know how to make sense of these numbers). I'm a diligent student, and a hard worker, but extracurricular activities got in the way of my academics briefly at the beginning of the year. My current SAT score is a 2180 but I'm going to take it a couple more times to hopefully raise the score (or at least just my CR score, because most colleges superscore). And I am going to make sure I get straight A's next semester. Is there still a chance for me to get into an Ivy League? (Or at least a top university?) Thank you!

it is definitely ok to have a b, especially when you are taking an ap math class, a b in an ap class is better than an a in a regular class. But you know, ivy leagues love a’s, so try your best. Your SAT score is good. so if you can work harder with no worries, you should be fine.

It’s totally okay to have one B… but I’m concerned because you’re only taking 3 APs. Your SAT is okay for ivies, not very good though. Hopefully you have some great EC’s and essays, that makes all the difference! :)
