so basically my junior year i got a D my first semester in ap chemistry (mind you i didn’t take the AP test because of corona), but i was able to bring it up to a B the second semester. i finished my first semester of my senior year with all A’s and i’m going into my second semester with all A’s as of right now. will that totally get me rejected from UCLA?
The UC’s do not allow for grade validation for Chemistry which means you will receive only credit for the 2nd semester of Chemistry with your passing grade of B.
So, to meet the minimum UC a-g course requirements, you need another 1 1/2 years of recommended Laboratory science but 3 years is recommended.
If you did not repeat the 1st semester of Chemistry, then your D is included into your UC GPA calculation, which does impact your chances at a school like UCLA.
Which laboratory science courses have you taken or in-progress at time of application and will you meet the a-g course recommendations?

How is your HS rigor? PIQ essays? EC’s?
All these will contribute to your chances at UCLA.
Well I’ve taken accelerated biology as well as chemistry honours, I try to take classes I know will help me, but I also want to be able to pass them all so they’re not INCREDIBLY hard. I’m on varsity track and did lots of community service. I also got my PIQs looked at by my counsellor who was a reader for UC applications before and submitted them after.
UC’s tend to be very GPA focused so what are your UC GPAs especially the capped weighted and how many AP classes have you taken besides the AP Chemistry?
