I currently go to Community college in Jersey, I just finished my first semester there, by the end of spring semester I will have completed 32 credits, My GPA right now is a 3.6. I recently just applied to UDEL and Rutgers. My high school grades aren't the best , i believe my gpa was about 3.0 in high school. My sat scores are a 1340 on all three parts, Can i get into UDEL and Rutgers for fall 2011? I also had to take 3 remedial classes does that not count as credits?

Your GPA is good but I don’t think you have enough credits to convince them to not put so much emphasis on your high school record which obviously isn’t stellar. Especially when 3 of those classes are remedial which mean that they are not going to transfer. I believe that the deadline for fall 2011 application is in february(at rutgers) meaning that they will make their decisions around april. This also means that the colleges are not going to be able to see your spring semester grade when they are reviewing your application.
Another factor is which school you are applying to (engineering, business, arts and sciences, environmental and biological) and the spots available.

My advice:
- Spend at least 1 more semester to show colleges that you can handle college level courses. Remember, you need at least 12 transferable credits just to apply. Colleges need to see 30+ transferable credits in order for them to not put so much weight on your high school records. If you can maintain a good gpa (3.3+), they will NOT care about your high school performance.
- Apply for spring or fall 2012 and good luck.
