It’s hard to tell if NYU is need blind or aware. If aware perhaps as you are full pay.
Your weighted GPA is below that of unweighted at NYU. RIgor and Class Rank are important to NYU.
You seem hell bent on high end schools in cities. Will Emory be next?
I would suggest schools like U Denver, Drexel, VCU, DePaul, Pitt, College of Charleston, U of Arizona, U Nwe Mexico, Minnesota, Cincinnati, UTK, U Kentucky, maybe GW although that’s a stretch.
Anything is possible and take a few shots - but you are over reaching in reality. btw - you are more than a GPA - do you have a test score and long tenured ECs where you have quantifiable results?
But only if the application deadlines haven’t passed. This student is a HS senior who has already applied…and they have a couple of acceptances presumably.
And the student says they can afford Vandy…whatever that means.
@baileyw08 Congratulations on your acceptances! You should be proud of that!
While Vandy and NYU are extreme reaches with a 3.64 WGPA, it is possible your complete application presents a package that is appealing to their Admissions. You gave it a try and now you just have the really hard wait period. For now, celebrate those schools that already want you.
Aren’t you going to find that answer out in a few weeks when you get the admission decisions? I am not sure any of us can give you any degree of comfort beyond that.
At this point…only the adcoms at Vandy are able to assess your chance of acceptance. Adding more details here really won’t be helpful.
I think you are not being very patient…admissions will be released soon enough. You already have two affordable acceptances. You are going to college. Just be patient and wait for the Vandy decision.
Yes, you can get into NYU. My child had a 2.8 GPA from a very academic private school. She had reasons for her low GPA and submitted additional information on why her GPA was so low (severe depression. Her psychiatrist also wrote a letter). She is a beautiful writer, so I think her essays were very strong and unique. I always said if she could get a college to actually open her application after looking at her GPA, she could get in anywhere. We were told by her college counselor that NYU is definitely one of those schools that looks at the entire applicant and not just their scores so she ED to NYU and got in. She is a senior this year, getting ready to graduate and is thriving.
