Can I get into Yale?

Hi everyone. I really want to get into a Yale as it is my number one school. I’m a female of mixed race (Jamaican/American) and I also happen to be of Jewish religious affiliation. My unweighted GPA is a 93.614 and my weighted GPA is a 97.412. I took my March SAT but haven’t received my score yet . My class rank is a 25 out 405, which I know isn’t the best but is still in the top 10%. I am currently taking 3 AP courses and 1 college course. I’m involved with my schools National Honor Society, National Foreign Language Honor Society, Student Government, Mock Trial, and I am a competitive dancer (I dance 5 days a week for 2 hours+ each day.) I also am the treasurer of my schools chapter of Glamour Gals which is a volunteer organization in which we go to nursing homes and talk to and paint the nails of the residents. Besides this, my community service hours are limited. I will be volunteering at my local hospital and working as a camp counselor at a week long STEM camp in my area this summer as well. Do I stand a fair chance?

I know this isn’t the answer you’re looking for but no one can say that anyone stands a fair chance. It is Yale, after all. You have an impressive GPA, are in the top 10% of your class, take a fair amount of AP classes and have a long list of extracurricular activities. Then again so do many other applicants.

As another wannabe Yalie, all I can say is that put the time in making yourself stand out and being unique. Don’t underestimate the power of the personal statements and make sure to talk about dancing competitively, especially if you’ve won any competitions or honours.

Good luck
