Can i get more loans than school aid package offers?

Sounds crazy but I would like a bit more money in loans

my UCR package was pretty great for my high EFC 10457, income under 80,000

UCR Grant $15,999
Chancellor scholarship $1000
$5500 Subsidized loan
$1379 UnSubsidized loan

might be crazy but I would need about $1000-$2000 more to cover my housing. I won't be able to have my expected $10457, I will only be able to save about $6,000 therefore I need more loans to be able to cover housing.

I was wondering if there is a way I could ask for an increase in loan amount?
or is the amount stated in financial aid package set in stone??

Are you a dependent or independent student? What year?

Loan limits are set by the govt, but you can only borrow up to your COA, I believe. The Fin Aid .gov pages lay it out. Depends on the questions I asked.

@BrownParent‌ I am independent and will be a junior

OK, I think you are allowed to borrow up to COA to a limit of 12,500 total loans. Just ask the fin’l aid office to increase the amount to fit
