Maybe someone else here goes to a crappy school like mine, and my friends and I were wondering: Since we have 6 AP classes and only 2 or 3 are actually taught towards the AP test and follow its curriculum, is there a way to get the College Board to take note and do something about it? It just really makes me mad when we say we have X number of AP classes, and the first day of AP Bio involves being told why NOT to take the AP test (everyone who tried got 2s). Anyone? Could we get the AP status of our classes revoked, just to shock our administration/some teachers into shaping up? Thanks.

you'd probably have to contact the superintendent. the AP label simply indicates a college-level course, it is not strictly affiliated with CollegeBoard's AP exams.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. Our school had to rework itself into longer class periods to accomodate for AP Science labs. Apparently we were threatened with having our rights to the "AP" label revoked. :P

On the other hand, I don't know if reporting your school to the College Board will do much. I don't think they care enough to swoop in and reform your school; they'd just not let you call the classes "AP."

Yeah but even that (revoking the AP label) would get the ball rolling. Kind of a conspiratorial idea I know but people are getting seriously shafted here.

Starting this spring, every school has to submit an audit form and syllabus filled in by the AP teacher and Principal for every AP course that they want to continue to call AP. Only courses that are approved will be put on a list that will be sent to all the colleges next fall. Without the approval, the school can't call the course "AP" on any transcripts.

I would contact the CB directly for more information about this. They have a vested interest in preserving the "brand name" of AP, and they should take your concerns to heart. They email address they give is apexams@info.collegeboard.org. They also have a form you can fill out for more info about audits, but it's intended for teachers (http://survey.collegeboard.com/ViewsFlash/servlet/viewsflash?cmd=showform&pollid=Audit_Survey!auditSurvey).
