Can i get some ideas on what my class next year should be?

Hi there

I am a freshman and i am gifted in all three categories.

I wad a weird schedule because i could not change my class but i am doing fine. I am thinking of what classes i want to take during my sophomore year in high school
Here is my current schedule:
Honors English 1-2
Intro to Theater

AP Human Geography
Honors Biology
Fitness and Sports 1-2
Algebra 3-4 Honors

And since i am gifted i was going to take these classes next year:
Pre-AP Honors English 3-4
Choir
World History
Ceramics
Pre Calculus 1-2 Honors
Chemistry 1-2 Honors

I do have a link for what classes i have:
https://www.phoenixunion.org/site/handlers/filedownload.ashx?moduleinstanceid=10786&dataid=49260&FileName=2019-2020%20Course%20Catalog_.pdf

Are there any classes i should change or get rid of entirely/ avoid?
Thank you in advance

You need a foreign language class.

Having been involved in gifted education for 10+ years, I’m curious what “all 3 categories” are.

What are your goals, interests, etc., etc.? It’s pretty hard to recommend classes with zero background.

A foreign language should be included for most college admissions, unless you are looking at a fine arts future with the multiple art/performance classes. Some type of CS class (CS Principles, Intro to Programming, etc.) are common and beneficial to many students but, again, with no background it’s hard to recommend.

Replace choir or ceramics with a foreign language, and take it every year for your next three years of high school.

In our HS, honors pre-cal or calculus in 10th grade are “advanced”. Multi Variable Calculus in 10th grade is “gifted”.

This calls to mind the iconic quote by Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden: “Gentlemen, welcome to Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club.”

I assume you plan to aim for a top school. Although your school does not seem to require a foreign language just know that you are most likely competing for a spot against students that will have 4 years of all 5 core courses although some start higher in a foreign language which goes more by level reached then years.

What do you find weird with your schedule? It seems like a typical schedule for a bright student. I think what your school is calling gifted is being eligible to take honors classes which is pretty standard for bright students in many states without it being labeled a gifted program which is why people may be confused.

10th grade can you take honors or AP History?
take foreign language - your school has so many options!

During my 7th and 8th grade years i had already taken Spanish so I am already done with my foreign language requirement

Verbal nonverbal mathematical are the 3 different gifted catagories

engineering but i need to get more arts credits

I have already taken a foreign language my 7th and 8th grade year

Many colleges will not count courses in middle school. The most selective schools want 4 years of foreign language. Forget about the minimum requirements for you HS graduation. You need to look at what colleges expect.

Agreed with the previous posts advocating for a foreign language. Piggy backing off of what they say, most selective colleges like seeing the SAME foreign language being taken for multiple years.

More selective colleges prefer to see up to year 3 or 4 (looks like year 4 is AP level at your school). Also, some colleges may not count middle school foreign language without a higher level high school foreign language course.

Some colleges have foreign language graduation requirements that require skill greater than typically learned in high school year 2.
