Hello, everyone. I am an international student and currently study in America for high school which is a not relatively academic school. My current SAT score is 1370 and plan to have at least 1450 on the test on August 26th. My toefl score is 104 and plan to have 110 at last. I was in a very competing high school in Shanghai and have attended Model UN and Sage before. I also volunteered in the World Special Olympics 2017. My question is do I have a chance to go the top 15 universities with all of these? My dream school is North-western university. And what can I improve to reach the goal? Thank you very much!
The admission rate at NU is ~10%. Your current stat is below the 25th percentile. Average applicants to NU would have ~1500 or higher SAT score. So your chance would be in the single digit percentage. This is pretty much the case for all the top 15 schools.
If you want to attend a private research university that is in/near a major city, alternatives less selective than NU would include:
George Washington
American University
Boston University
Northeastern
Also check out urban/suburban state universities such as the University of Md-College Park.
It looks very unlikely, sorry. There are lots of other good schools you could get into, though, such as the ones @tk21769 listed.
I concur. Also if you apply to NU, just a pointer its Northwestern (not trying to be mean, just dont want your essay to have a minor mistake that take away from it) hope the best!!
