I’m homeschooled and am considering taking an AP Computer Science course. The only thing is, there are no AP testing centers anywhere near (or within) the country I live in. I’d be more than willing to take the test, and I’m pretty sure I’d do pretty well, but my parents are not the type of parents who would fly me out just take a test. If I take the course and complete it successfully, theres nothing wrong with listing it as an AP course on my transcript, right? I technically don’t need to submit the test scores (because they’re not there lol) and colleges would understand.
While I’m at it, what do college admissions officers think of taking AP courses without taking the AP test? Is that a -1 or a +0?
If you take the class and have a grade or evaluation yes you can list it. Not all Americans take the AP test for which they took the class.
Well, AP courses are listed on your high school transcript regardless. AP CompSci would fill an elective requirement on your transcript. If you don’t take the test, that means you have no chance of receiving college credit for the course. Some schools require their students to pay for their AP test fees, hence why some students don’t take the test. It’s more of a +0
MYOS1634 is correct. Without a grade or evaluation, it’s going to be viewed as nothing more than an extra activity.
I saw your other thread. Can you afford tuition and fees at a US college? It’s supremely difficult to get FA as an international applicant. You need to be the best of the best of international applicants to even be considered for admission, let alone get full financial need met at a school like Stanford. If you are serious about trying to get into a US college, you need to also consider other options.
