Hi,
I have an EFC of 0, does that mean I can receive both the total amount of stafford loans ($5500) and FWS on my finaid package ? or does accepting whatever value of FWS reduce the loans I can take ?

You *can *receive both, depending on the schools COA and any other aid/scholarships you have. WS is need based, so you must have remaining need.

However, WS funds are very limited. Each school is given a certain amount of WS funding and decides how to award them - including the criteria for awarding it and the maximum they will award. Even then, schools often don’t have enough WS funds to be able to give WS to all the students that are eligible. So even with a 0 EFC you may or may not get WS. It is very important to file FAFSA early to maximize your chance for limited funds. My daughter got WS some years and not others, even with the same need and EFC each year. One time she filed in early late January and was too late to get WS.

Don’t you have your FA award already? It is very late in the year to not have it.

How much does your school cost?

Have you been given a FA pkg? If so, what is in it?

You’ll get…

Pell 5550
Direct loans $5500
and maybe work study for about $2k (this depends on the school).

i’m not going to college this fall, but i wanted to know how much i’ll be eligible to receive when i attend a college if my net price cost is more than $5500 … and u both answered it , thanks !
