Ive already request info from loads of places
Now im wondering, can I start filling out application forms or will they change for the 2011/12 year?
If I fill out the SSAT/TABS application now will it be valid for applying for the 2011/12 year?

Thanks!!

@dhurly23,
I’m also applying to BS. I’ve already submitted some recommendations. So yea,start applying as soon as possible.

The application forms do sometimes change…often just a little bit, but if you’re submitting on line, you should definitely wait as the older form will not transfer to the newer.

What you might do is fill out a draft of what the schools my son applied to generally referred to as “Part 1.” It’s basically your list of EC’s, awards, and achievements. We found it was one of those things that was good to do ahead and then sit on…our son did that, and then periodically someone would say, “Hey, did you remember to put down ___________”? By the time he submitted it, he had things winnowed down to the most significant activities without a lot of pain. However, I wouldn’t start the essays yet–some of those (not all) are bound to change.

@ifax: how did you submit recommendations already? I thought that the recs were supposed to be written by your current teachers…

@Pollydolly: I have the same question and the recs ** are ** supposed to be written by your current teachers.

@dhurly23: I would wait until at least Sept. to start filling out real applications and sending them in because that’s when most schools put them up for the 2011/2012 year. However, it would good preperation and timesaving for you if you followed what classicalmama said and do a draft.

@dhurly23,
My school is really small and I’m going to have the same teachers next year. So I asked them to write me a rec early.

Wow! Starting apps before Christmas break! i’m impressed :)

Frankly, I think our family is in for another stressful, “don’t-talk-to-me-I’m-trying-to-write-application-essays” Christmas vacation. Yep…I can see it coming.

@neatoburrito,
Lol sounds like an awesome Christmas break. I would hate do be working on applications over Christmas break. I can’t force myself to work during that time.
