I’m going to U of M next year! Yay!
…But my biggest worry is due to the supposed difficulty of the freshman engineering chem course… and… the indisputable fact that my high school chem experience was profoundly – perhaps beyond – pathetic.
So what should I do? Nothing? Would I be alright as a freshman (in the wildly time-consuming marching band) who basically doesn’t know what chemistry is? Perhaps I should save up for a community college course over the summer? Would that be a waste of time in the summer of my senior year? Should I study chem on my own? Can I attain the preparation my peers from non-hood-schools will have?
I think it would help to take a chem course over the summer if you can. I believe there’s an intro to chem course you could do. Good luck
I would gear up ahead of time in whatever way you can. It will be worth it. Those first year courses are weed-out courses and you don’t want to be weeded out!
Basic knowledge, if not in-depth knowledge, of Chemistry is probably necessary.
Check out Coursera or EdX chem classes now. In addition, if you have the means, see if you can take a chem class on FLVS.
Contact admissions and ask them whether you’d be allowed to take a chemistry intro class at a CC in order to prepare for your first chem engineering class, without jeopardizing your freshman status.
