I was in college in the past (from 2005 - 2009) - (College A). I am looking to transfer to another college (College C), but one of the required courses I need, I've not taken yet. I would like to take it at a community college (College B) because it would be cheaper. But my question is could I combine my College A coursework and the one class at College B and use both schools in a transfer application to College C?

I hope this makes since. If you need clarification please ask.

Thanks in advance.

I am assuming the course you need is not a continuation of a course taken at College A. I don’t see this being an issue. You can definitely take the needed course at a community college and College C should accept it.

Not clear what you mean by “combine”. When you apply for transfer admission, the college expects you to include all your transcripts and they can be from more than one school. The university you apply to will then evaluate the transfer credits to determine if they can be applied to your intended degree and which courses on your transcript match ones in your desired program of study.

The answer, therefore, is go ahead and take whatever courses you need at the community college, but if possible first try to determine if they will count for your new program.
