Can some one explain these CR answers for me?

<p>The section I am doing is section 9 of this practice test:
<a href="http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/prof/counselors/tests/sat/2007-08_sat_preparation_booklet.pdf%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/prof/counselors/tests/sat/2007-08_sat_preparation_booklet.pdf&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p>

<p>(The answers can be found at the end)
I'm having trouble with the answers for 9, 11, and 19.</p>

<p>Thanks!</p>

<p>What you’ve linked doesn’t have a section 9, and there is no question 19.</p>

<ol>
<li>E
Why?
Read the text: "In<br>
5 St. Louis, a 1925 movie palace has been successfully
transformed into Powell Symphony Hall, complete with
handsome bar from New York’s demolished Metropolitan
Opera House. "</li>
</ol>

<p>Now read the question. Before you look at the answers answer it in your head. I thought to myself, “it was relocated”. All of the answers don’t make sense except for E.<br>
As a side note: don’t get tripped up by answers that make you think you read it wrong. The first answer, A, might make you go back and reread and try to find some symbolism.</p>

<ol>
<li>C
Read around the quoted text.
"This is no more than a
practical coming of cultural age, a belated recognition<br>
that fine old buildings frequently offer the most for the
money in an assortment of values, including cost, and
above all, that new cultural centers do not a culture<br>
make. "</li>
</ol>

<p>Read the question. Don’t look at the answers just yet. I thought in my head, “the guy is trying to say that old centers are better than new ones.”
A: eh…maybe. if we can’t find a better one
B: definitely no
C: This one exactly matches what i originally though. Cross off A.
D: no
E: no
Answer is C.</p>

<ol>
<li>E.
Again, read the last paragraph:
“We have never had greater technical means or expertise
to make our landmarks bloom. The question is no longer
whether we can bring old theaters back to new brilliance,
but whether we can fill them when they’re done. As with
the new centers, that will be the acid cultural test.”
I thought to myself, “he’s trying to say that it doesn’t matter if we can restore old buildings unless we can fill them.”
Go through the answers.
A. wrong. He never says anything about it
B. wrong
C. wrong
D. wrong
E. Almost exactly matches my original thought.<br></li>
</ol>

<p>You might get stuck between B and E. Here’s the difference: B states that the author’s challenge is to get the public to like architecture. Clearly, he’s not saying that. E is a bit more modest: it simply states that the challenge is simply to attract people that appreciate it.</p>

<p>Wow, thank you so much!!! I will definitely use the strategy of answering things in my head before looking at the choices.</p>
