what are my chances?

SATs are critical at ND, hard to chance w/o those (or estimates)...

To be honest, your classes don't look that rigorous aside from Senior year. Your GPA is great though, do you know your rank? And you probably would want to have more EC's. I'd venture to say the average applicant is in maybe 5+ clubs but you are definitely on the right track with community service, get as much as you can! Studying abroad will look great too. Study for the SATs too because like vc says, they are critical in distinguishing you as an applicant. Good Luck!

yeah, well id say the SAT is important to be competitive but ND def looks at the whole person

need that to make any judgment, and take it more than once!!

good luck!

Curious,

NHS needs a 3.6 in our area, so shouldn't you already be in NHS?

NEED AT LEAST 1300 OUT OF 1600 OR A 31 ACT...THAT'S THE AVG

afiorille -

Look at the thread titled "official EA decisions for the class of 2012" - it's on the second page of the forum - the students who were admitted early decsion have shared their stats for everyone so maybe you can compare your stats to their information.

NHS requirements vary from school to school and system to system. To put it into perspective, you needed a 93 average to be a member in my high school, so, clearly, it can't be based on a universal X out of 4.0 scale.

Okay I'll give you that your school requires a 3.72 compared to our 3.6. if you are hoping for 3.7, that would be cumulative...you will need a heck of a gpa to bring you up to that gpa. for your sr. yr, even so, you would be pushing the time constraints for applying. Add into tthe equation what the school weights for H or AP.and now the equation is more convoluted

1300 is far below average bulletandpima.

Notice I said at least 1300.

Here is from ND site:
The average student admitted for the class of 2011 was ranked in the top 5% of his or her graduating class. These students also scored well on Standardized Tests. For the class of 2011, 50% scored between 1350 and 1490 on the SAT and between 31 and 34 on the ACT. 25% of the class admitted scored above those ranges
Thus, 25% scored below 1350.

But if you look at stats from the students who have already been admitted, it seems like all of them scored in the high 1400s to the 1500s -- regardless of that quote on the website, you will have to aim much higher that a 1300.

Yes, but remember CC is skewed. Students that come here typically are more invested and anxious. They are coming here looking for answers. You need more than 1300, but statistically you need to follow what ND is stating. I also think if you are below their 50% marker you will need a heck of alot of EC's and a great essay to offset that SAT score

Athletes and legacies bring the average SAT way down. I've found that most non-legacy athlete guys have above a 1450 at least.
