Can someone explain me what a brutal grade curve is?

I always hear about students saying that class 'x' has a brutal curve for example. I understand how the grade curve works but what exactly would make a curve brutal? Thanks.

Curving so the majority of students get Cs would be a pretty brutal curve, I think.

Or if the tests are too easy, so getting only a couple of points off puts you pretty low in the distribution.

Might be the structure of the curve, or the students in the curve, I suppose. Moral of the story: don’t take calc with the engineering students.

True life about those engineering majors…
