Can someone explain meal plans?

I am reading on the site and am confused?
With a meal plan, do you use your plan dollars and pay as you go, or is it like unlimited buffet style and you pay one price for entrance to the dining hall?

You pay for each item individually. I guess the prices are subsidized though. Our tour guide said a piece of pizza costed ike .50 or something. No buffet =(

Ok that’s what I thought. It seems it doesn’t matter which one you get cause you can add money if you run out.

@ddotjon‌ You pay for whatever you decide to purchase. The beauty of it is that you can get food at anytime and anywhere on campus you want, within the hours of operation of course. You get charged a fee for the meal plan (labor, cleaning, stealing and so on) because the $2,200 you pay per semester (average C plan) you only start out with $800 in the beginning of the semester. You technically are only paying for the food with the $800 that is why the pizza is $0.50 and the burritos are $2.00 and so on. I was a freshman last year so i spent a lot of money my first semester and wasn’t smart about it and had to put on another $400 to get me through the semester but that is because I’m an athlete and stayed stayed over the breaks. Second semester i only put on $150 but I knew people that would have $100 left over (mostly girls) at the end of the semesters. If there is a surplus at the end of a semester it rolls over to the next semester.
