I'm having extreme difficulty trying to gather up all of my safety, match, and reach schools. Most importantly - can someone explain to me what a reach school is? Are reach schools usually schools that YOU probably won't get in it, but applying anyways just to see what would happen? That's my guess.

Reach school is more like the school you really want to get in but hard to reach (around 20%to10% chance that you would get accepted).
It’s pretty much what are you saying but these schools are the ones that you DREAMED to get into not really just “to apply anyways”

Yea…kind of…a reach school’s average incoming class stats are higher than your current stats…despite that…schools from the Ivy League are high reaches…i.e. although you have 4.0, 2400 and tonnes of EC’s, admission is not guaranteed and can’t be predicted.
