Hello guys,
I am a college student and I need to register for the SAT by today. My college doesnt have fee waivers and all high schools are closed for the break. So is there any way to get a fee waiver by today?
Thank you guys :))
no
Aren’t there any high school counselors here? Or people in possession of fee waivers?
No college student should be registering for the SAT anyway… It’s a test for high schoolers.
The high school counselors get a certain number of fee waivers and they have to attest to the eligibility of the high school student they give it to.
Maybe you can get someone to pay for it and then you work to earn the money to pay them back.
But yes, why are you in college and taking the SAT now?
I am applying for transfer and my old SAT score (1910) isn’t that great…
Looking at your other threads, you already took the Oct and Dec SAT. I guess you didn’t like the results of the Dec one so now you think you need to take it again in January.
You are currently an international student at a private LAC and want to transfer to an ivy, MIT?
I would be very difficult to be accepted there as a transfer and you have good financial aid now, so I think it would be best to stay where you are.
I took the december SAT last year, not this year. And why do you think it’s difficult? Even woth a 4.0 GPA?
Because almost no students leave those schools, so they take a very small number of transfers. They turn down tons of students with 4.0 GPAs for the freshman class, and transfer acceptance rates are even lower than freshman acceptance rates. Stop chasing – you are very fortunate to be where you are now, buckle down and take advantage of what your current school offers.
These schools have very low acceptance rates, even lower for transfer students. Also it is difficult for international students to get enough financial aid so even if you were accepted by a school it would not be guaranteed that you would get the same level of aid.

From MIT common data set, 535 transfer applications, 18 admitted, that’s 3%
Guys why so demotivational haha. I really feel I can do better. I do not feel challenged in my current college…
I am just stating facts.
You have just started college, if you don’t feel challenged, then maybe take harder classes?
I’m prett sure MIT also requires subject tests, it was mentioned in the link above.
Also what is MIT’s cost of attendance? Average aid for nonresident aliens is listed at around $40k.
I don’t think a good GPA is going to be all that’s needed to be accepted as a transfer at these highly selective schools.
Well it is not all I have, I have good extra curriculars and I work as a web developer. My portfolio is at http://gharbi.me/ . I really do like my current college, but the thing is that I never applied to top schools when I was in high school so if I don’t apply I will never know whether I could’ve been accepted or not.
OMG Lafayette college is a great school! And you are very fortunate that you have costs covered.
I know right? I love it too but it’s just a matter of personal challenge
Ok screw it, im not doing this…
