I'll pass for the year. However my pre calculus class. I just stopped doing anything.

So far the grades go 76, 60 and 60. For three quarters.

65 is the passing point. SO i can still pass but it'll be tough.

However I was wondering if I didnt would Stony Brook take away my admission? The class isnt even needed. ANd is there anyway that I can make up the class if they do take i away? I cant lose this admission.

Depends, if you end up in the D range they may rescind your acceptance. And by the looks of it, they may. Start working your *** off to get that grade back up to at least a C.

Oh excuse me if I thought it would be okay to take a break in a class I dont need to graduate. Its 12th grade not college. Of course in college I’ll do my best, I’m paying to be there. So kindly shut the **** up. =)

And if anyone has any more info on Stony Brooks atitude toward 12th grade gpa, please share. Thanks.

You obviously don’t take your education very seriously. Grades of anything less than a C- can result in Stony Brook rescinding your admission, regardless of whether the class is required to graduate.

By the way, your parents are paying for your high school education (whether directly or indirectly) through property taxes.

Well thank you chris, mind telling me how my specific situation will work out? I mean my overall final average will be high 80’s probably. But my calculus grade will be terribly low. Would that one grade be enough for it to be taken? Tell me now so I can decide on another college and save myself from wasting more time.

Maybe you should start getting extra help, etc.
And if your low grade(s) having anything to do with substance abuse, I believe Stonybrook is doing some mandatory drug testing…

I slacked off senior year and will probably get a D and a C in two of my classes. I was wondering what the chances are of me getting rescinded? Also, is there a possibility that Stony Brook might take away a scholarship based on national merit?

Is this going to be final grades, or quarter? If quarter, and goes up or is a C by the end of the term, probably not, but a final D puts you in jeopardy. If there is an extenuating circumstance, you might want to call admissions and ask what you can do.

I think merit is in jeopardy-again, might want to be proactive and avoid nasty surprises.

Talk to your teachers. That’s all you can do at this point. Ask for extra-credit and try to bring up your grade. A C in one class won’t kill you. But a D or F might have consequences whether it be academic probation or getting your acceptance rescinded.

im having the same problem for my ap calc class. its not that Im slacking its that I dont get the material. I tried to talk to my teachers and going to extra help but it hasnt helped me out.

well i heard since its a state school, they usually dont rescind ur admissions, especially after paying the deposit and completing everything else. Im in a worst situation, i failed economics which you need to graduate. im trying to remain optimistic but if they do deny u admissions when will u find out?

That is absolutely false. A higher ranked flagship institution like Stony Brook will definitely revoke your admission if you fail to maintain some degree of standard in your final semester. If you have failed a course required for high school diploma conferral, you will be unable to enroll at Stony Brook. A high school diploma is required.

Completely off-topic, but can it also happen the opposite way? If they look at my transcript for freshman to junior year and it doesn’t quite make the cut, will high senior year grades change their minds?

Probably not. Admissions decisions are usually based upon your cumulative academic record and only senior year performance is unlikely to change the University’s decision.
