Can Waitlisted students request to attend revisits ?

Hey everyone, I was just wondering If I could request to attend a revisit to schools that I was waitlisted at. I'm asking this because I haven't visited the schools. In the rare and unlikely event that I get off the waitlist, having visited would help. Thanks in advance, and congrats to all who got in to their first choice school !

You can always make the request, but I think that in most cases it’s unlikely they’ll say yes. They have their hands full with all the admitted students who are visiting. But . . . you never know unless you ask!

Thanks dodgersmom, and do you know if I should call them or email the admissions office ? I’m a bit unsure.

Well, I’m old school, so I always prefer telephone to email. But, either way, it’s up to you. I’d just wait until Tuesday . . . give things a chance to quiet down.

Then, when you ask, explain that you love the school, are optimistic that things will work out, and would really like the opportunity to visit. However you say it, your request should be perceived as an expression of your sincere interest in attending the school.

But if they say “no,” accept it graciously. You want to be seen as interested, not as a pain in the a$$.

Thanks for the help dodgersom, I really appreciate it !

Be gracious. Many others are asking the school’s as well.

For the most part, the answer is usually no. I think I read that explicitly somewhere. Revisit days are usually restricted to admits because of space requirements. If they say yes to one waitlist, they’ll be inundated with the others.

Thanks for the reply Exie. I’ll call both schools on Tuesday. If they say no, I understand. At the end of the day, revisits are for admitted students. It’s worth a try, though.
