can yall rate my passion?

alright so i just saw another post that said yale admits 1/3 consistent excellence (4.0 2400), 1/3 artsy people/legacy, and 1/3 one majorr interest. THe last one is how im trying to get in.

So my passion is french and im korean. THis is how i tried to emphasize the point to no end.

-first academic interest: foreign languages and literature
-my commonapp essay is just about my love for french and a summer class that just did it it for me
-im president of french honor society and french club and this activity is listed first on common app
-i have placed nationally on the National French contest and the rankings are as follows:
9th place on Level II as a freshman
10th place on Level III as a sophomore
9th place on Level IV as a junior......i know yall dont know what any of this means lol
-Finally, my teacher wrote me a rec. that he showed me. It said I was the only one in the class who gets more excited about french grammar than playing games and watching movies...which is kinda nerdy but ehh...and also that I made his teaching experience more rewarding and that I was one of the strongest in his career.
I also noticed that the rankings had ALL of the check marks in the 1% category

the big problem is i dont have french sat2, but im gonna take it in january...with most prob 750+

also my gpa is a 3.85 uw which is barely acceptable. We dont rank but im like 17/200 if we did.

I was hoping for a deferral from stanford but i got rejected and i thought my approach might be the problem. Hopefully it works for yale..

PS: I have a pretty strong app except my gpa even for yale..scores are good 2330 and 800 on math and 760 on bio. leadership, two varsity sports, violin, research....

i also have a second mini trend
-second academic interest is bio, 5 on AP bio, 760 on sat
and most importantly siemens competition semifinalist( I sent my paper)

is the gpa just...the end for me...i really hope not..

Don't fuss about your GPA. A 3.85 isn't something to worry about imo. You've showed your passion well enough and hopefully, it'll pull you through. :)

-from a fellow Korean

P.S. Only on CC is 3.85 considered a 'barely acceptably' GPA ;)

did you enter the concours French contest? Just wondering
And out of curiosity: are you from texas? Because my friend from Texas also says "y'all" (not trying to be judgmental or anything.)
You have a fair chance!!!

thanks guys and yes it is the concours!

1/3 consistent excellence (4.0 2400), 1/3 artsy people/legacy, and 1/3 one majorr interest.

Where did you get that?
according to you, I should get in with 66% considering i have 2/3, which I doubt is the case

Oh mathematics! Oh humanity!

Interesting (and cool) passion… you better hope for that 800  Much less may look bad… Good luck :D

Why the bump, WannaBYalie?

Sorry, I don’t understand. What does “bump” mean? I thought bump meant it was a good post. I mean that when you have such a huge passion, especially something in which your skill is quantifiable, you need to prove your worth in that particular passion. Excuse me if I misinterpret your comment, I’m not entirely sure what it means.

^LOL, a bump means that you pushed up an old thread. OP was a 2013 applicant and is apparently attending Dartmouth instead of Yale. :)

OH! Oops, sorry! I forgot that I was searching past threads and just commented. Sorry about that, lol :P
