Can you all chance me?

From your SAT and GPA scores, you're definitely qualified, but as some posts have mentioned already, most applicants are. There are decent arguments for why you might and might not get in, and it would be pointless to waste any time listing them (you probably know them already anyways). However, I would like to reassure you that I have seen people who were shoo-ins get flat-out rejected, and I have also seen long-shot underdogs get in as well. Applying to any college is 1/2 everything you've been doing (keep it up!), and 1/2 plain luck. Just apply; assuming you don't have a delicate ego, you have nothing to loose!

i got updates for my two SATII scores:

MathIIC - 780
US History - 770

I'm thinking I should retake?...

No don't retake. Those scores are more than fine. Spend your time writing a dynamite essay if you feel the need to do something pro-active. Or do something wonderful this summer.

Yeah, definitely don't retake. I thought I'd have to retake my sat II phys 760 for caltech/MIT, but after going to a Caltech admissions thing, was told not to (and Caltech is a super-score-oriented school), didn't, and got into Caltech and MIT as well as Harvard. Anything over 750 is really good, and your scores are even better than my physics one was. at that point, it's less about the ECs and more about the essays/recs/etc.

About foreign language requirement at Harvard...

Due to a scheduling conflict, I've taken only two years of Spanish, and ended up taking Journalism in my Junior year.

I think this was a good move as I'm going to be Editor-in-Chief next year as a Senior.

My question is: Will Harvard look negatively upon my not taking three years of foreign language because of a scheduling conflict (and I'm bound to Journalism as Editor-in-Chief the upcoming year, so I can't just decide to take Spanish III and ditch the newspaper).

My other option is, because I've taken all the AP science courses offered at my school, I could just take some random fourth year science credit at Mt.Sac (college) and then have Spanish III senior year, but no science

thanks for reading this all if you did, I know it must be really confusing

i would suggest your second option for senior year regarding languages. i think you should definitely try to get in a thrid year of language and since you've done well with your sciences and filled requirements, i would focus on getting in that year of language.

I agree with starburst. Colleges strongly recommend at least 3 (if not 4) consecutive years of foreign language.

EDIT: Perhaps you can even take the next level language class at the community college and take the science in school?

I would take a Spanish course at community college during the summer, if I was sure I would be able to pull of an A.

It would be unfortunate if my GPA is ruined because of one foreign language course at a community college during the summer.
