My friend wants to apply to UMD as a transfer as soon as possible because it’s close to his home. He’s worried if he gets rejected as a transfer for Spring 2016, he won’t be allowed to re-apply Fall 2017 as a transfer. If he can only apply as a transfer once a year then he is better off only applying in Fall 2017 because he has more time to prepare his grades.
He’d be allowed to do it, but typically if you’ve been rejected, admissions don’t turn around and think 'oh yes, we made a mistake ', even if the second time around grades have improved.
I applied to UMD for the Spring 2015 semester during the regular deadline. However, I got in to Towson and American University, but my top choice has always been UMD. Unfortunately I didn’t get in for the Spring 2015 term. I did however speak to an admissions counselor and told me that I was a great candidate, but space was limited for the semester. So, what he did was reconsidered my application for the Fall 2016 term for priority deadline and I received my acceptance in March 2016! This is my first semester at UMD and I’m loving it here!
