Can you cancel sat scores after receiving them?

I’m taking the old sat in january which can no be superscored with the new one. If I dont like my score would I be able to cancel?

Yes you can cancel your score. However, the deadline to cancel your score is the Wednesday after you take the test. So that means that you will have to decide whether or not you want to cancel it without knowing what your score is. So you should only cancel your score if you 100% know that you bombed it. Otherwise, there’s really no way of knowing what your score is before you cancel it

However, many schools allow you to choose the scores that you send. So if you do terrible on your first SAT and great on your second, you can usually not even send your bad score. But there are schools that want your entire testing history. In that case you would have to send the bad score. They would still place more weight on the better score, but the first score will still be available to them.

So you’re just going to have to play it by ear! Prepare for the test so that you can get a great score, but if you really know you did bad you can cancel it as long as you do it before the deadline. Unfortunately there is no way to check your scores before you cancel them :frowning: Good luck with your testing!

P.S. There’s a lot more info on this on the college board SAT website! They explain the process for score cancellation and have an FAQ section.

I believe CDOE is right, you won’t be able to cancel your scores by the time you receive them.

Yep, @CDOESenior2k16 and @ReallyNotSpecial are correct. You have four days to cancel, and the window to cancel ends well before scores are available. If you cancel, you don’t get a score; if you get a score, it’s too late to cancel.
