Can you do AP Physics 2 with minimal prior knowledge in physics?

Hi Guys this is my first time posting on CC…

I will be a sophomore in the fall. I will be taking Cambridge AS English Language, Cambridge AS Global Perspectives, Spanish 2, Cambridge IGCSE Physics (some topics from 1 and 2), Cambridge AS Pure Math 2 (basic integration, stats), Biotech, and AP CSA at school in the fall. I plan taking AP Biology and maybe AP Physics 2 from FLVS. I took physical science in 8th grade and honors biology and honors chemistry this year. I’m worried that some parts of AP Physics 2 build off prior knowledge, but I’ll probably do some physics over the summer.

I plan on taking AP Chem, AP Stats, and AP Physics C Mechanics junior year and AP Physics C E&M and AP Calculus BC senior year. My school has this thing where you have to take Calc BC senior year.

Is taking AP Physics 2 in addition to my other classes a good idea next year? I don’t want to take it junior year because I will also be doing AP Physics C Mechanics. As a future BME major, would taking so many physics courses help me going into college?

Thanks in advance

No. Taking IGCSE Physics and Physics C is more than enough. Don’t do AP Physics 2.

AP Physics C uses calc. Is the physics teacher teaching the calc needed?

I really don’t understand your schedule. Are you saying that you want to take 3 science classes next year? If yes, that is a terrible idea.

@skieurope What if I am taking AP Physics C E&M online and colleges I apply to can’t see that I am doing it? Yes, the physics teacher is teaching the calculus needed.

@Eeyore123 Yeah, I’m taking 3 science classes next year, but the biotech class at my school isn’t known to take that much time.

Online through FLVS? Why wouldn’t colleges see it? Are you not in Florida? Are you not getting HS credit?

@damon30 no I live in washington state

Get your GC to sign off on all of this. If they give the ok, then you’re good. Otherwise, you are likely to have numerous problems including, but not limited to, no credit, no placement, bad grades, graduation issues and less than stellar GC LOR.

@damon30 Thanks, I will do that,
