Can You Get Into any Ivy League School like Columbia with a Low ACT Sore but High GPA?

Hello everyone! I am a homeschooled student with a 4.3 weighted GPA. Along with my homeschool curriculum, I am taking College Physics, Calculus 2, and French 1401 at a nearby community college. I am currently maintained A’s in all of my classes. For extracurriculars, I created a foundation that supports children in Nigeria, created a tutoring service for children in shelters and public schools. Is there a possibility for a student to get into an Ivy League school with an ACT score of at least 21? Just curious…

A 21 ACT combined with home schooling would make the Ivies. pretty much out of reach.

Test scores are not the be-all and end-all, but it’s a piece of the puzzle in any application. Without a hook, for the Ivy League you want to have an ACT of probably at least 32.

Recommended scores:
Harvard, Yale, Princeton: 33+
The rest: 32+

Kids get in with less than a 32, but i would bet that most have a powerful hook: athlete, URM, legacy with business development possibility, low SES or first-time college student (in the family), etc.

I play elite basketball and some of the Ivies are interested.

Your ACT 21 is the 56th percentile of all takers. You would have to be the singly best HS recruit in your state to merit a even passing consideration from schools with academic indices required by the Ivies. They’d have to basically recruit no one else with sub par scores – sacrificing every other recruit to get you. Are you that good? Then awesome – you’ll have many schools wanting you. But no Ivy is realistic unless you seriously boost your ACT.

Columbia doesn’t publish this but have a look here at PTon whose applicant pool mirrors CU closely: https://admission.princeton.edu/applyingforadmission/admission-statistics

PTon admitted no one with an equivalent ACT as you have. For applicants with ACT from 25-28 (based on SAT equivalency), they accepted 1.9% of them.

Also, Princeton only accepted 2 home schooled kids. Your GPA is seriously in doubt due to your very mediocre ACT.

I see you asked about Princeton two years ago before you had taken the ACT and I replied to you before.

You need to see where this recruiting thing gets you. Aiming for schools like CU and PTon are dead ends unless you miraculously boost your ACT above 30. Good luck.
