Can you get merit aid if you apply after the Dec 1st priority consideration deadline

Hi guys! I’m an international student, and I applied RD to Grinnell. I didn’t know about Grinnell’s Merit deadline until recently. I was wondering if I would still be considered for any merit aid. I’m now scared that they might reject me because they mightn’t meet my need. If they wouldn’t consider me for merit aid, my package would have to be need-based only and if they can’t meet that, then I’m thinking I might be rejected. What are your thoughts on my situation? Did anyone get merit aid before when they applied after Dec 1st?

yes

Why ask here? Just call Grinnell and ask.

I did ask an admissions officer, and I was told that I will still be considered, but I was also told that I shouldn’t worry about merit aid because Grinnell gives out need-based aid so they don’t give out much merit aid and very few applicants receive it.

That sounds like a soft no. Are you worried that the need-based aid won’t be enough?

Yea, I got the same vibe. No, I do think need-based aid will be sufficient; but, I was curious about the merit aid because I want to go to med school after my undergrad so I wanted to find out if my potential cost can be lower than my EFC.
