cause right now my teacher is writing a rec for me for a scholarship, and shes writing it WITH me. lol I just tell her what to write.

but is this possible with university ones? cause i think i read on UPenn app form that you are not supposed to see it. yet some of you in your "my chance" topics claim that the recs are great or whatever. is it cause you THINK they're great cause of intuition, or is it cause you looked at them?

I heard that my future econ teacher allows students to write our own recs and he looks over them and signs them. . .don't know how that works. . .

On your university application, there will be a box to check off saying that you will not look at the recommendation (something about confidentiality). Yes, you could refuse to check that box, but colleges don't seem to look very favourably upon that (it's like you're saying that you don't trust your teacher to write you a good rec). Some teachers may choose to show it to you afterwards, but that is their choice.

bumpy. so what does everyone do? how then do most people seem pretty certain that they've got like "orgasmic" or "killer" recs? how do they know its just not "good"?

Usually they've spoken with the teacher beforehand, and they are assuming that the recommendation is "killer." The other possibility is that their teacher was kind enough to show them.

Because most teachers show them a copy of the rec after it's been mailed.

oh wow
