Can you receive both the Regents and the Alumni Scholarships?

My family's EFC is near-zero, so if I get the Regents Scholarship, nearly all of my college costs will be covered.

Thus, if I am lucky enough to also be selected for the Alumni Scholarship, how will that factor in?

Will I just receive the extra money on the side for my own personal use? Or will it be used to replace some of the Regents' money?

Thanks guys for your time!

They will find somewhere else to reduce your FA. Say you get $5000 worth of UC Berkeley undergrad scholarship, they’ll end up subtracting just enough so you don’t get extra $.

Yes, it is possible. They are separate scholarships, so you will receive the full amount for both. The only “replacement” that can happen is a reduction of your need-based aid, if you have any.

Do you need to file FASFA for both/either of these?

I do not believe you needed FAFSA for the alumni scholarship since that one requires a separate application + interview. The Regents one might though, I’m not entirely sure.

you will need FAFSA if you are to receive any type of FA. the EFC info is critical as to what amt of FA/scholarship would be granted.

I believe they’re separate scholarships, so I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to get both. However, it will change other numbers in your budget since you’re getting more financial aid.
