Can you submit a letter of recommendation to a UC?

As a public high school student in California, the UC admissions process has been drilled into my head for years. I'm sure that I've been told several times that if you send a letter of recommendation to a UC, it will be thrown out (same goes for any type of portfolio, video, etc). But I've been told by several people that this is not true. I can't find the policy on the UC website (universityofcalifornia.edu).

Can anyone verify that UCs will not even look at letters of recommendations?

No they do not.

Letters of recommendation.

UC does not require or solicit letters of recommendation for undergraduate admission.

[University of California - Admissions](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/apply/apply_how.html)

If your app is selected for Augmented Review (which means you are on the bubble), you can then submit a rec. You can also submit a rec if you are appealing the admission decision. Otherwise, No Recs.

Thanks. =]
