<p>I think when they receive SAT reports, they keep them on file for some period of time to see if they are followed up by actual applications - otherwise, why have 4 free ones sent from Collegeboard when you take the exam? Most people take the exams long before they are doing their actual applications. If the schools don’t keep them, then you would have to pay to have them sent again.</p>
<p>Colleges begin an application file for you whenever anything relating to the application first arrives; thus scores can come before the app and when app comes it will be matched with the file already created with your scores.</p>
