Can you tell me about what these schools are known for----party school, snobs, unsafe area, very religious, preppy, safe campus, friendly, alternative lifestyles, drugs, etc??

I think it is easier to identify what you are looking for and then tell you schools that may fit that- then use information that may or may not be correct - terms like preppy- snobby- jock- often depend on the eye of the beholder-

the only ones on that list that I have heard of are Pomona - which is one of the Claremont Colleges and has a student body comparable to Amherst and Mills which is a womens college, and women that are interested in Pomona and Mills may also want to consider Scripps which is a womens college in the same Claremont consortium as Pomona

Mills - very liberal, well educated women, access to SF bay area. Not a good place for conservatives.

Pomona - beautiful campus, great academics, close-knit community. Not a place for someone who wants to remain anonymous (but then, neither is Mills.)

Pomona: Considered one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country, it's also one one of the most selective. Small but part of the Claremont College consortium so options to cross register. Residential campus, active social scene on the weekends. SAT scores (25-75th percentile) of students:
1370-1530

Mills: beautiful campus in a not so great area. Very small. Very liberal student body, lots of non-traditional older students. Alternate lifestyles definitely welcome. Mainly residential but lots of students look elsewhere on the weekend for social life. Excellent academics but not terribly hard to get into, very good merit scholarships. SAT scores 1030-1280

Cal State East Bay - typical california state university with vast majority of students california residents. Decent academics but not well known outside of the bay area. Primarily a commuter school. On the weekends, the school reports only 2% of students stay on campus. SAT scores 630-1122

Menlo and LaSierra - third tier privates, less selective, easy admissions, neither has national reputation and both are mostly known in their local areas. Academics OK, but better students would probably not be challenged. Mostly california students. Menlo has 40% commuter students, LaSierra 50%. Both known as suitcase schools, they clear out on the weekends. SAT scores:
Menlo 810-1010
La Sierra 860-1110
