So, on the Penn supplement for Wharton, a question asks for you to pick up to three concentrations that you might pursue. Does picking a more unique one could help your chances, or does it not matter at all?

If it does, which concentrations are considered more unique? Less unique?

I just got into Wharton and my advice is this: don’t pick things that aren’t you. I put down a double concentration in finance and Social impact/ responsibility simply because those two things are what I have done in my EC’s in high school. Finance tends to be ultra competitve to get into but I wasn’t afraid to put it down anyways. Put down things that reflect in your EC’s and that you are motivated to go to. Best of Luck :)

like wharton17 said, if it is a concentration that doesn’t seem random (like makes sense with your EC’s and essays) to admissions, by all means put it down! if it’s not cohesive to your application though, it will probably hurt your chances.

Ok, that definitely makes sense. I picked the concentration that I really want to pursue (and it does make sense from my app), and I don’t think too many other people actually choose it. I was just wondering if my chances were better than if I had selected a more popular major like finance.
