Canadian Citizen as an American Student

Hello! I was born in Canada, but I moved to the U.S. when I was younger. I have had my entire education here as of now, and I plan to finish at the current high school I am at; I’m currently a junior. I have my heart set on a Canadian university (Guelph to be specific), and I am not really sure what admission prices I would be charged if I were to go there. Like I mentioned above, I am a Canadian citizen, and I do have a green card here; I do have plans to get a citizenship. If anyone has any information about pricing in my situation I would be very happy to hear it!
Thank you!

We are in a similar situation. I was born in Canada and for that reason my two US-born daughters both have dual citizenship (Canada and US). Canadian universities have been very consistent that my daughters are Canadian citizens, and as such will pay the same price as a Canadian citizen. In most cases this is the “out of province” price, but in some cases that is the same as in-province and in some cases is only $1,000 more per year compared to the in-province price. Some merit based aid may also be possible, but in our experience is usually not all that significant. We have no experience with need based aid.

I haven’t visited Guelph but have heard that it is a very good university. Good luck.

By the way, the admissions staff at Guelph could also answer this question, or other questions that you might have on the process.

@DadTwoGirls Thank you so much for the advice!
