<p>Hi, my friend wants to attend University in the United States, but her grades in high school are too poor to get into anywhere besides a community college. She wants to attend college in Canada for a year or two, work hard and get good grades, and then come to the U.S. to attend University. How exactly does the transfer process work, from a general standpoint? Are SATs required? Would she be able to transfer, or would she have to enroll as a first year undergrad? Just wondering what she would need to do.</p>
<p>Your friend would apply as a transfer applicant and would be evaluated along with transfer applicants from US community colleges. If she applies during first year, the American school would still look at her high school record and SAT score would likely be requied. If she transfers after second year, the American schools would only look at her college record.</p>
<p>Why does this friend want to go to what would likely be a lower tier US school? Does s/he have any idea of the cost and the limited financial aid available to international students at these schools?</p>
