I’m an American right across the border and looking into attending university in Canada. I’m interested in theater and physics/atmospheric science, as well as economics and creative writing. I’m wondering what schools have good programs in the former areas, and possibly the latter if they happen to be particularly excellent. A college that two of these majors as well as an great theater presence but not necessarily major would also be great.
I’ve heard so far that York is the place to be for theater, and possibly has an atmospheric science program? I’ve also looked into University of Saskatchewan, Sheridan, University of Alberta, and Concordia for theater, but I’m unaware of their focus on some of the other majors. University of British Columbia would also be closer to home.

You should be able to find a good theater presence in any major city. I’ve never heard that York is the place to be for theater. The colleges are usually the place to find the better theater programs, but they would not be the place to study physics/atmospheric science/economics. Those majors would be best at universities.
UBC would be a good choice as it’s in a large city and would have access to the theater scene.
As someone who is involved with professional theatre in Toronto, I, like bouders, have not heard that York is the place to be for theatre. There certainly is theatre there but it wouldn’t be my first choice for a student. As far as Sheridan goes, if you’re auditioning for theatre, that is a full-time major that will not allow an additional one. It is also a musical theatre program, not straight theatre, and it is extremely competitive to get in. It is one of the top MT programs in North America.
There are many theatre opportunities at U of T, both in the major and extra-curricularly. Students at U of T certainly can double major or add a minor or two. The theatre major is competitive but you would be able to participate in many theatre opportunities there without being a theatre major, e.g., at Hart House and through the various U of T colleges. Vic is known for many productions each year.
If UBC would be closer to home, then presumably so would the University of Victoria and Simon Fraser University. All three have theatre programs, although I don’t know anything about them. If you are not a Canadian, then SFU and U.Victoria and probably York would be less expensive than UBC or U.Toronto.
It is hard for me to imagine majoring in Theatre and going all that far into Physics or Atmospheric Science.
