Canadian Universities

whoa guys chill, its just a friendly discussion....cheers lala

naziba,
from what I've heard, u of t commerce has nothing to do with rotman

Concordia has narrowed the gap with McGill in commerce.

For foreign students looking into Canadian universities: the problem with Canadian universities is that all the igloos melt in May, and they have to rebuild the campus every Fall. Also, if you study commerce and get an internship, sometimes there aren't enough beaver pelts to go around and trade with the Indians. Other than this, it's a great experience, as long as you don't get eaten by the polar bears.

i thought york (Schulich) had a very good business program, and was very selective (1 in 14 admitted for business administration, 1 in 16 admitted for international business admin.)

hey guys!
perhaps someone can help me.. i'm looking for a med school in canada, can u guys suggest a school? btw, i'm an international stude ok, so can u give me school(univ) that offers scholarship/financial aid/study grant? thanks. ur help will be well appreciated

actually i think Queen's has the best business program comparing to other schools because of their high admission standards. i heard lots of people made into schulich but failed queen's because they don't do well in essays and don't have a 80%english mark. queen's pay a lot of attention to personal statements and english mark, well as schulich basically only cares about marks,

Yeah. Queen's are pretty tough on the admit lane. 300 places for first year students? Ick. Since they are taking only 300 they can't rely on grades alone.

SFU also has a good biz program. I don't know about the rest of the school, but I know the Biz program is well recognised. Not internationally though.

Personally for me, its down to UBC or Queen's for biz. I thought I would definately go to Queen's eairler, but now....argh. Annoying.

I had friends who went through the University of Toronto's commerce and finance programs, and did quite well. IF you want info on rankings:

Hey Guys,

I was in the same situation as most of you last year, i applied to McGill, U of T, W.Laurier, Schulich, and Queens, all for Bcomm/BBA, and got into all of them. I chose Queens Commerce. After spending a year there, heres what ive learnt about business programs in canada. It all comes down to what field you want to go into.
Queens is great for ppl interested in going into finance/Investment Banking
Schulich isn't fantastic at anyone field, but is generally considered to be good
Ivey is great for Consulting
Toronto is great for Accounting
McGill is great for finance/consulting (but really selective for non Quebec students)
and Laurier just sucks :)

In general though, i would advise anyone who gets into McGill, Queens or Ivey AEO, that picking between them is like choosing between great and fantastic, so you can't go wrong

I won't say Waterloo is the best in Canada, but I do have to agree that it is a good school. Particular in actuarial science.

If one says that Waterloo is the best, it's akin to flushing McGill, Toronto and UBC down the toilet bowl.

Mcgill is not that selective, not as selvective as queen's at least....
If I were any of you guys, I would choose UofT, because Bay Street is right beside UofT

do u mean not that selective for canadian students or international?

Being a Canadian undergrad student in Fall 2006, I think I have a better idea than some idiots on this board claiming Concordia is one of the best business schools. It's imperative to take this topic seriously, and respect the OP's original question. From my research, I have noticed that the best undergrad business schools are;

(1) Queen's Commerce
(2) York Schulich
(3) Im not sure about UBC, but I think it's either at UofT or Better.
(4) UofT Commerce. The program is NOT CONNECTED with Rotman in any way, other than corporate sponsorship. VERY few Rotman professors even teach undergrad, and undergrad commerce gets very very little endowement from Rotman.
(5) Wilfred Laurier BBA
(6) Concordia Business
(7) McMaster Business
(8) York Atkinson Business

Although York does have a bad reputation for being easy to get into, it's business program is top notch. The schulich and Queen's Commerce is neck-to-neck, they are both very good programs. But Queen's wins because it is more prestigous, and harder to gain admission into.

Also, on a serious note, at UofT, you will be part of a very large commerce population. If your asian, you would actually fit in quite nicely.

where's ivey?

It's July 1st, Happy 139th Birthday CANADA!

Where's Mcgill, where's ivey u retard

when is the admission dead line for universities in canada?

To clear things up - there is no such thing as a Canadian Harvard or ''the best university in Canada'' because it totally depends on what you want to study. Harvard isn't even the best school for a lot of areas.

Stop being rediculous all of you.

agree, for example Wharton to IB is better than harvard

I like UofT over McGill. My cousin is going to UofT for Aerospace Engineering and I liked the campus alot. It was like this oasis in the city (Toronto). McGill (from my perspective) seemed shabbier and was just a part of the city (Montreal). I found Montreal to be quite boring as well. Too bad there is no great college in Quebec City. Now thats a nice town to live in lol. Only downside is everyone speaks French :S
