Hi all! I’m applying to U Toronto, Carleton and UBC as an American (international) applicant for architecture. UBC is my dream school, Carleton is also good and I got admitted to U Toronto already. I visited and toured U Toronto and if I don’t get into the other 2 I will be attending. I keep seeing a lot of stuff about U Toronto being like “U of tears” and stuff like that I’m just wondering if it’s really that bad Studying architecture may be different then the usual experience but I’m just not sure. Also wondering what my chances are for UBC because I want to get in so so very bad (3.8 GPA, 1280 sat, strong portfolio, paying in full for tuition, etc)
I can’t tell you what your chances are for architecture at UBC. A lot will depend on how much they like your portfolio.
I attended U of T as did my son. We both loved our time there. DS is currently attending an Ivy for grad school. He liked U of T better.
I see those online posts too. I think part of it is that the posters are trying to be humorous. Is U of T rigorous? Yes. And that means you learn a lot. But you have to work hard.
