To which weekend were you invited? I'm invited to the Feb. 24-25 one... looking forward to meeting you! If any of you are travelling without parents and would like to share a room at the Babson Executive Conference Center to cut costs, let me know.

For those of you who did not make it, I want to tell you you'll be ok. I got rejected from my early school, which sucked, but now I feel vindicated! Don't despair!

Well, if you want to chat, gimme a yell. Its an exciting time. I remember it very very well. Come find me when you visit Congrats guys, and see you in a few weeks! My aim is in my profile.
-Ash, Olin 09

old SAT: 780 M, 760 V

SAT IIs: 800 Physics, 770 Math IIC, 730 Lit.
GPA: 3.7 UW, tough school
APs: have taken 9 APs so far (five 5s and four 4s) and am currently taking four more.
Essays: if you want to read them PM me.

Other stuff: I make techno music, do kung fu and kickboxing, volunteer for The Mars Society, promote for parties, DJ, and some other cool things. I have a lot of energy and I think about the future all the time.

Couple questions:
- who's delivering the letters this year? (ups, usps, fedex, dhl, etc)
- does anyone know if rejections are overnighted as well? (I had to ask)

Also (unlesss you have this in your profile) could you post where you are from (just the state) so we can see how far they have come so far, and decide whether to become even more worried.

Wow... I am suddenly depressed and grief stricken. That would mean that the delivery was guaranteed for today.... :( :( :( :( :( tears tears tears

edit to last post: does anyone know if the all are UPS'ed or just the acceptances. If the latter is the case, they really should change that (just look at what happened EA at MIT). IMHO if anything, the rejectees should find out first, and it really is silly for people to find out that they are rejected by not getting a letter right away. Either way, I still love Olin.

I've been made a candidate too! I got my letter only about 3 hours ago. I'm going to the March 3rd and 4th weekend, though.

My stats probably aren't as impressive as Matt's are, but here they are, nonetheless:

SAT:
M: 750 CR: 760 W:800
SAT IIs:
US History: 780 Chemistry: 690 Math IIC: 750
GPA: It's weighted at 4.77. I'm not sure how this translates on a 4.0 scale. An honors class A+ is a 4.8. Only AP classes are weighted more.
Rank: 1 out of 75
APs: I took three last year, and I'm taking four this year. I got a 4 and two 5s last year.
Essay: Umm. I talked about DDR and being able to know when to admit failure, I think.

Other stuff:
Skipped pre-calculus to go to AP Calculus
President of Amnesty International (11-12, member 9-12), Co-president of Art Club (10-12, member 9-12), President of National Honor Society (11-12), Cartoonist + Columnist for Newspaper (12), Actor/Set Painter in Drama Club (10-12), Science Society (10-12) I also played volleyball, took/take private art lessons, and sung in a few choirs.
I'm a National Merit Semifinalist (possibly finalist), Havard Prize Book recipient, Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award recipient, and MA Superintendents Assoc. Certificate of Excellence recipient.

I left off some stuff on the end, but those are the biggest. The duct tape prom dress was pretty fun too ;)

Hey everybody, If you haven't heard yet about candidacy status, I wouldn't start worrying yet. Remember the official notification isn't until tomorrow. It has been my experience when sending overnight packages that overnight can sometimes mean two days, depending on where the package is going. Good luck to everybody and I hope you get good news tomorrow!

I got into the March 3-4 candidates' weekend.

I understand why the topic of stats has come up, and I realize that this sort of information can be useful to students who are considering applying to Olin, but I'm going to encourage you guys who are headed to CWE to stop thinking about stats.

If you got invited to CWE, congrats! Olin has decided that you have the academic experience and ability needed to get this far. CWE is about you as a person, how you work with others, and how Olin fits you and you fit Olin. Don't spend CWE mentally comparing your scores to those of the other candidates... just enjoy a fun weekend that's a great chance to meet lots of smart and interesting possible future classmates.

Again, I understand why you're posting stats and I don't mean to criticize. CWE is awesome and I just want you to get as much as possible out of it.

To those who didn't get an invite: I'm so sorry. I got waitlisted by Olin after my CWE, and even though I later got accepted I will never forget how much reading that waitlist letter sucked and how confused and lost I felt as the news sunk in. I'm sure all of you guys will end up somewhere great, whether or not that place is Olin.

^ I was soo sure I wasn't going to get a packet today because of stats and all... but I did.. :happy dance:So those who don't have spectacular stats, don't give up hope...
And those who are waiting...sometimes, mail gets really screwed up, so hold out for a few more days...
On another note: I'm sooo excited for Candidate's Weekend! I will also be there the March 3-4th weekend.
