Candidate Fitness Assessment Preperation help

One of my major concerns about not making it to West Point is the Candidate Fitness Assessment. I lift and run quite a bit (i'm in track and football) but I don't think at this point I would too well on the CFA. I know I have a long stretch of time before I actually take it so what are some good workouts or strategies to improve myself on taking the CFA?

Here are some things i've tested myself on lately:

Mile Time- 7:22
Pushups in 2:00-42
Situps in 2:00-56

When my son was preparing for the CFA, we met with the strength and conditioning coach of a major college football team (who happens to be a family friend) and asked him that exact same question. After looking over the CFA event descriptions, the coach had one recommendation: practice the actual events. In other words, the best way to get better at push-ups is to to do a lot of push-ups. This turned out to be especially true of the basketball throw.
