If you login to Olin, there are instructions for solo travelers for Candidate Weekend. The instructions say to book a room, and then contact Kate at Olin to request a roomate.

I contacted Kate, and she said Babson will handle the roomate requests. I contacted Babson, and they said Emily at Olin will handle the requests since Babson does not know the students (ages, sex, etc.). So, I contacted Emily, and she said that Rachel at Babson does that. So, I contacted Babson again, and the person said she will be contacting Rachel to have them straighten it out. I suggested they figure it out quickly since they are likely to receive a lot of requests now that they have released the invite list.

So, if you want to request a roomate for a solo traveler, I suggest waiting until Tuesday to give them time to figure out who is doing what.

To be honest, last year it was not a big deal. My daughter handled all the CW stuff herself except that I booked the airline tickets. I think she e-mailed someone or checked something on a form that she wanted a roommate. I don’t think she did it immediately.

There’s no fancy roommate matching. You just get a roomie the same gender as you. I don’t remember if my daughter knew her roomie’s name before CW; I don’t think she did.

I’m not concerned about who is her roomate. I just want to make sure she is on the list to be matched with a roomate. Seems like right now, no one is accepting responsibility for making the list.

My D filled out the online RSVP and travel form today, stating she is traveling alone. I booked a room already. I’m sure the roommate stuff will work out. At worst she gets her own room, because I committed to pay for a room when I planned on going too. We live driving distance, but auto is not one of the options on the travel form. So, we have to contact them to straighten that out anyway.
