Hey guys,
I’m a second year political science major at UCR, and I plan on going to law school right after college. Since many people say undergrad doesn’t matter as much if you’re going to law school, would there be any academic benefit of transferring to UCSB? Is it worth starting over and becoming accustomed to a new school and environment? Also lol, how hard would it be to make friends as a transfer?
and as an additional comment, I really dislike UCR and the overall environment, but another thing that is stopping me from making a firm decision to transfer is that even though I don’t like UCR, I’m already used to it and “set” there, and I’m not sure if is a point in starting over, especially because it’s not guaranteed that I’ll love UCSB.
Go visit the campus see if you’ll like being in SB.
If you’ve finished your second year it may be to late to transfer because of unit caps. You can try to transfer but there’s no guarantees you’ll get in.
If you plan to live off campus, be aware that the area around UCSB is SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive than living near UCR. I’d advise against the transfer just based on rent costs.
