I plan on taking a subject test in June. So far, I've taken Literature (790), Biology E (720), and the SAT I (Reading 800, Writing 800, Math 720). I plan on taking the Math IIC in October.

I'm deciding between the US History and the Spanish. I want a really good score on this one - at least a 770. If I took the test cold, I would do better on the Spanish, but it also has a much harsher curve (due to the native speakers). If I took the US History, though, I would need to study pretty hard.

My college counselor suggests that I take the US History, because I just took the Spanish AP, and it would be repetitive to take the Spanish SAT as well.

What do you think? (Thanks in advance.)

depends on ur strenght, i heard US history was pretty easy from these boards.
personally, i took MATH I(770) BIO-M(740) and im gonna take chem in about three weeks.
but then again, i wanna do pre-med in college, so im looking for sci/math oriented SAT IIs
u have literature and bio, which is like two diff extremes.
and ur counselors an idiot, i took bio right after the AP exam, and im taking chem after the AP exam as well. Studying for the AP is harder than for the SAT ii, so ull be overprepared and ready, not repetitive

side note: im also in NYC... kool

I think repetitive is the wrong word. He meant that my AP score (assuming it's good) would already tell colleges that I'm good at Spanish, and it's better to show that I'm good at history as well. He's actually a pretty famous guy; his name is well-known among college admission officers, so I'm inclined to believe him.

Yay New York

i didnt know college counselors achieved a status of fame lol... but either way, thats the point, u should stick to a certain hook, if u will. Not a hook as in wat u use to get in, but show ur VERY strong in a certain area that pertains to ur college wants and future career goals. as i said, im extremely inclined to make them say wow, this kids is quite the science and math student, since im gonna be doing some type of science major in college. either way u need 3 SAT IIs, so why not know u can do good in them? they only rele look at APs for placement.

wat part of New York? im down in SI lol

go for us history, i just took it and didn't feel that it was that bad
and language sat IIs seem to be quite difficult (thus my decision to take us history intead)

btw, i heard chemistry was actually quite easy (from a classmate in AP chem)

I get you. I want to be a lawyer, so history is probably more useful.

I live in Queens but go to school in Manhattan.

aaah... lawyer, so ud DEfinitely wanna take literature and history, cuz law is pretty much that... lol, reading and past knowledge. u raped the literature, so take US history. i still dont see why u took bio then?

Yeah, I regret that decision. I took it my freshman year, when I wasn't sure what I wanted out of life. Haha.

ahhh the mistakes of youth
