Can't pay for college?

@albert69 I don’t think the rejection is a flat 71% - no matter who you are and what your background is.

This is a good student. I’m assuming he’s kept his nose clean. As long as he doesn’t have any physical or mental issues that would exclude him, I don’t think he’d fall into the 71% rejection odds.

Again, I don’t normally recommend the military because you do have to want to go that route. I’m really just suggesting it as a possible option in case this student is so inclined.

don't have any other relatives.

He’s already said that he doesn’t have relatives that can help him out. I’m not sure if he means that he doesn’t have any relatives in this country, or if he doesn’t have any that can help him out.

for some reason, I’m thinking that the parents may not be from the US…but I could be totally wrong. Just something that I’m sensing by the way the OP discusses his mom and dad (mom has no money, etc).

I wonder if the OP is doing ok. I’m concerned that the household may be “explosive”.

I have issues within my family that make it an unsafe environment.

And it sounds like the mom and dad don’t communicate or have a relationship with each other, either.

@albert69 - There are no foolproof options in life. The OP is someone without many resources and doesn’t have alot of doors open to him. I merely suggested the OP investigate the military as an option.

Like @mom2collegekids - my understanding is the vast majority of people who don’t qualify for military service these days don’t have high school diplomas, have physical or psychological problems or don’t pass a drug screen. You can sign up at 17 and a cash signing bonus isn’t unheard of. It certainly beats living under a bridge.
