i didnt think the Summer seminar to academy acceptance rate was so high.. could be wrong though!

ds52262, and USAFA10s, thanks for the info on CAP. I'll probably be contacting the local squadron in a week or so. Even if I don't get much leadership experience, I'm sure the program as a whole will be very beneficial.

I don't think going to Summer Seminar gives you an advantage. I just think that they are pretty selective when choosing individuals for it, so naturally a high number of them will later qualify for an appointment.

I heard only about 50% of those who go to summer seminar actually go to the academy, but I am guessing more get accepted and just choose not to go

Summer Seminar gives you taste of Academy life. Some will love it, others will hate it, those that love it will pursure the appointment, those that hated it saw that it wasen't for them and won't pursure a nomination.

I think summer seminar was 300 or so dollars... that is the best bargain around to get a chance for a week to take a look at the academy and see if it is indeed for you. You are right kbd, they are selective on who goes... but it is a nice indicator if you are on the right tract for acceptance later on.
