Other schools?

For all of my fellow high school seniors (the ones without LOAs…):

are you planning on applying to civilian colleges?? ROTC?? Because all those deadlines are coming up and I was just wondering because I am not totally sure what I’m doing myself.

I have been accepted to Rose-Hulman IT, Purdue University, and Colorado School of Mines. Georgia Tech is the only other one I haven't heard from, but they don't accept till Marchish. I have done half my AFROTC application, just need to finish it soon.

I want a back-up plan, I especially picked back up on my AFROTC stuff lately seeing as I'm probably not going to hear from the Academy before next year.

Good luck on your choices!

Same here, I am in to all the Texas schools (UT, Texas Tech, A&M) due to the top 10% rule. I am applying to AFROTC and NROTC to Tech and A&M for those and hopefully will receive a full scholarship incase the unthinkable happens, but I won't have to worry about that in the end because I know I will be in the Class of 2010. biting the nails on my crossed fingers

Well not a high school senior but i think it still applies to me as well :-P (college freshman). While my community college does not have an ROTC program (and nearst cross town is 30 minutes away) i decided to hold off on ROTC. However after i get my Associates in Engineering Science (end of spring 07) i will be going to Southern Illinois University @ carbondale which has an awsome aviation program with an AFROTC detachment on campus.

Thats assuming i dont get accepted which i am putting all my money on now so im prepared.

I'm thinking AFROTC and ROTC, got AFROTC stuff finished this week (yeah cutting it close) and finished the ROTC packet back in September.

Does anyone know whether the December 1st deadline excludes the papertrail that needs to be sent in? I think I read the pft as a Jan.18 postmark deadline.

I'm applying to UT,A&M, and Embry-Riddle

December 1st deadline is the hit the "submit" button for the online application. You need to be in the system as applied by this date. But... you have time to get all the paperwork & PFT in. There are 5-6 boards to review the files in the upcoming few months. The sooner you get in, the better your chances to get the scholarship. At least, this is what a ROTC Officer told us at a briefing that was held in our town this past Monday.

I don't know about that deadline. The dates on the ROTC app. papers are definetly not dec. 1'st. I of course had to send my app. in the day before I got my LOA.

yeah, ok... thanks.

its been crazy for me lately. my parents don't really want to pay for any other schools applications because they are so sure i'll go to usma (i have a loa...) if i don't get unto usafa... i just am not really sure lately. seeing you have all applied to other places makes me think i should probably too. i'm so indecisive. and its really hard to see myself anywhere other than usafa... i've been talking about it since i was like 9. you guys know... i know.

I think almost everyone on this board has been obsessing about the air force academy since they were just wee tikes.

i know, i know...

and i appreciate all of your insight.

I planned my life from the age of ten in order to attend the AFA. lol, gotta love it!

Mine has been since 7th grade because, ironically, that is when I went to the Naval Academy. It has been AFA all the way since I knew about it.

That is awesome. the quality of living in the air force blows the other branches out of the water.

The idea started in 7'th grade here...and has grown seince.

Planned my life to become an engineer or pilot.

I don't really remmeber when I became obsessed with the academy. I know I decided I wanted to be a pilot when I when to the museum of flight in the seattle area when i was little. I want to say that boeing owns it. I could be mistaken though. Anyways thats when I decided I wanted to be a pilot, and then realized in junior high that I could learn to fly at the academy.

I've wanted to go to USAFA since I was 8 years old when I visited during a family vacation from South Dakota. My Dad's a retired Air Force officer, and ever since that trip USAFA is all I've ever talked about in regard to college...

I also became interested since 7th grade when i met with an ALO from my area, although it was technically before 7th grade since i had to be interested then to meet up with him.

i beat you all..i've wanted to go since I was 3.

my gramma can beat your gramma up anyday!

Lol sorry, i couldnt pass the opportunity. Thats awsome that you wanted it from age three, let alone keep at it since then. Were you even aware of the entire workigns of the academy or just it as a place you wanted to go?

3!!!

I remember, I was at my cousin's HS graduation. He was going to the academy... they played the AF song @ the party. I asked my mom what song it was and she said it was the AF song b/c my cousin was going to the academy. I was intrigued, and I kinda decided that I should probably go there too (I was 7). Oh, and I have wanted to be an astronaut/pilot since I was in first grade (ooh, man, I was a BIG nerd in first grade...) so , of course, the academy is the logical course. I don't really know anymore what I want to do in the AF (I don't know if they'll let me fly) but I still really really want to go.
