Is cappex.com’s chance feature legitimate? I know it only considers GPA and ACT in it, but is the data it uses reliable?
it might be a useful reference, but I doubt it gives good estimates of chances, especially for schools that fit into at least one of these categories:

Schools which heavily consider non quantitative aspects of the application

Small Schools
-
Elite Schools (top 30 or so)
I think anyone can say they got accepted to a school on cappex so I don’t really trust it. A hundred or so students don’t represent 30,000 very well anyway. The best chance system there is is checking the common data sets or applying to the school. Also they only use UW GPA and none of the schools I applied to use UW GPA. Other than that cappex is a good place for reviews on a school.
We found it to be overly optimistic. Naviance is a much better predictor since it considers your specific high school.
