hi, I just have a few questions about the CARE Program...

1) Does applying for this program improve my chances of getting into FSU?

2) Will I be isolated from the general student population? Like, will the CARE program kids be in specific dorms, have to take specific classes, etc.

3) My mother attended a community college in NY, but we still have a VERY low-income after my father passed, am I still considered "fair-game" since both of my parents attained Bachelor's at one point?

4) Can anyone tell me anything about their experiences in the program?

No, this forum is not dead. Anyone with Care experience will post if they have something to add.

As an alumnus, I strongly doubt you’d be out of the mainstream of student life. You may have a mentor closely working with you, but so do a LOT of grad students with a major professor. You will work like there is no tomorrow…and really earn your academic credentials.

Good luck. If you are accepted to Care it may well be the best decision of your life.

They both selected it over UF. D1 is now a med student at FSU Med. D2 is now a senior Dietetics major. They both seem to love Florida State…both seem to be selecting it for grad school as well as undergrad.

To the OP, you are NOT isolated and after summer term no one will know you are CARE. The summer you start you will dorm together in Landis, and that is the only time you are “together.” The campus is much quieter for summer and it is a good way to start. After that you may have classes that are a CARE section with other CARE students, but just 1-2 classes, and you have special advisors, but you will dorm just like any other FSU student. After summer term, CARE is like an extra support system, but that is it. You are an FSU student just like anyone else.

The acceptances for CARE are starting to go out. Best of Luck and CONGRATS.

I got into the CARE program too. It is what is pushing florida state over the top in my decision making process. Being the first in my family to go to college and stay, I will really need all of their help and it seems as if I am really below a lot of people as far as GPA and test scores: 1190 SAT 26 ACT 3.552 GPA
